Private Studio
Ms. Blum maintains a thriving teaching studio in Brooklyn and Long Island, New York. She is also a celebrated master teacher at The Practice Room in Manhattan’s posh and vibrant Chelsea. With a B.A. in Vocal Performance and Oboe, and an M.M. in Vocal Performance and Opera, Yiselle derives effervescent joy from passing on the glorious traditions of instrumental music and storytelling-through-song to children and adult learners alike. A multi-instrumentalist from a young age, she teaches beginner-to-intermediate piano and guitar to students ranging from toddlers to retirees who are rediscovering a long-dormant passion or building a new skill. Ms. Blum offers beginner-to-advanced professional training in voice, song interpretation, and music theory; a true source of bliss is sharing her expertise with new learners.
Philosophy
“Central to my teaching philosophy is cultivating the spirit of curiosity in learners of all ages. All new students will begin with an initial assessment which will gauge where they are with their musical education and skill thus far, and see what really inspires them. If that is Taylor Swift right now, that's great! Taylor Swift is an excellent “gateway artist”! I utilize intentional/directed play, musical games, performance, and of course etudes and classical music theory for a comprehensive approach to teaching children the language of music fluently as early as possible. It really is like adding another language, and it features utilization of both brain hemispheres. We now have a wealth of data which demonstrates the excellent tool music is for learning to grow our focus muscles and increase self discipline”.

Voice
Drawing from over two decades of pedagogical study and professional performance practice, Ms. Blum offers a joyous approach to bringing out the most natural sound we can cultivate. We all have a completely unique instrument made
Piano / theory
Strong keyboard, chord theory, and piano skills are the building blocks to learning the language of music with fluency and ease. A strong proponent in starting children in music training as early as possible, Yiselle maintains that music should be a “mother tongue” to us all.
Guitar / Loog
Though not her primary instrument, Ms. Blum is a highly effective guitar teacher. She also specializes in Loog guitar, a miniature guitar for tiny learners consisting of the three highest strings of a standard guitar. Yiselle’s youngest student at age 4 revels in rocking out to Beatles classics on her Loog!
